SOARING DREAD: a fanlisting for the pokémon fearow (onidoriru)

A shadow covers the earth, and then it swoops down; the sun is no more. Fearow is a gorgeous, terrifying feathered eclipse. If you're a fan of this beautiful Pokémon, please sign up.

Wait, I skipped a passage. This website is a fanlisting - a joinable list of fans of a certain something, in this case the Pokémon Fearow. Think of it like me asking who likes Fearow and then waiting for people to raise their hands. The more hands are raised, the happier I get. If you want to know more about this concept, check the guys over at The Fanlistings Network. They're better than me at explaning stuff.

In case you were wondering, yes, I made the artwork on the right. Check Blind Dreaming for more of my work.

fearow (the demon bird)

Fearow

Easily recognizable from its broad wings, long neck and long, sharp beak, Fearow is a large (1.2m / 3'11'') predatory bird Pokémon which is most commonly found in ravaged fields and arid wastelands. It is very common in the Kanto region, but can also be seen in Johto and in the Sinnoh Battle Zone. It appears to be among the most ancient species of Pokémon to date.
Its huge wings allow it to stay in flight for a long time with the minimum effort; when it spots a prey, it swoops down and either strikes it with its claws or impales it with its beak.

Fearow is dreaded because of its ferocious behavior. Think that its Japanese name, Onidoriru, is a pun on "oni", demon", "doriru", drill, and "onidori", demon bird. However, it can also become very affectionate with humans - the most fitting example being Ringtown's Ranger Leader Spenser having a Fearow as a partner Pokémon.

As for what concerns the games, Fearow is listed at dex number 022 and belongs to the first generation of creatures; its typing is Normal/Flying. In battle, it has decent attacking capabilities and a good speed with which it can overcome its foes; it also gets access to the powerful move Drill Peck and is a good Return user. In spite of this, its movepool is anyway rather shallow and its defenses are low; in competitive battling, Fearow is seen as a somewhat-underpowered Pokémon.

Fearow evolves from Spearow at lv.20.

Soaring Dread is yet another website created by a loon called dubiousdisc. I don't own Pokémon, but Pokémon owns me. Fearow and Pokémon are copyright 1995-2009 Nintendo/Creatures Inc./GAME FREAK Inc. This website is however mine, so no, you cannot steal those four paragraphs of information or take my beautiful azure background. Seriously though, don't touch that Fearow illustration or I'll eat you.

Any questions? Send mail at dubiousdisc at gmail dot com. If you want to check out my other webstuff, check out Blind Dreaming. If you are interested in my other fanlistings, see the Hall of Changes. Goodnight.
