my art

( July 3, 2009 - 11:31 pm, filed under personal, tagged as , )
  • the world I draw is soft and silent like the day after the end of the world, when exposed lies become dazed smiles, but no one’s left to see
  • in the world I draw, nothing is really extraordinary: like in an usual acid trip for the bored, weird stuff is bound to happen and is nothing but a routine
  • the world I draw has no people looking any more alive than people in the one in which I walk. yesterday people were partying in the road, and I was looking at the beautiful patterns of shrieking swifts and clouds at sunset: I stupidly thought my soul was more alive than theirs, but, just like them, I wasn’t allowed to scream in awe. I wonder when people began thinking it was an unappropriate thing to do
  • the world I draw actually has no real people: they bear resemblance to human beings, but they are actually more like the very idea of them, but at times they don’t look like them at all
  • the world I draw is usually devoid of pointless words, and when there are words they are often to illustrate pointlessness
  • the world I draw often experiences loss of interest in existing or being coherent to itself
  • the world I draw is a survivor to my own dread and shame
  • my world is somehow filled with the happiness which was stashed under a brick and promptly forgotten (I did that too).

I used to be fourteen

( June 28, 2009 - 12:23 am, filed under artworks, tagged as , , , )

SO I WENT AND SCANNED EVERYTHING! Except for the comic, which was too large for the scanner I was using.

sneasel.jpg

This was featured in Angeltower Page’s first layout (2004). Ah, memories.

crystal-storm-01.jpg

Watercolors for the Crystal Storm Version (December 2004). I don’t know what’s that grey thing behind Espeon, I suspect it may be duct tape residual. It does look like crap, though.

crystal-storm-02.jpg

That Absol was beside the tagboard, I don’t remember about the Mewtwo though.

crystal-storm-03.jpg

The Blaziken wasn’t part of the drawings for the layout, I used it for a wallpaper.

sunrise-dream-01.jpg

Drawings for the Sunrise Dream Version (March 2005).

sunrise-dream-02.jpg

Why did I ever stop working with watercolor? D:

self.jpg

This is that self-portrait I told you about in the previous entry. I was fifteen here. I need to make another one for comparison. Now I’d say I look…older, perhaps? As weird as it may sound.

New artworks:

amy-gabumon-01.jpg

Gift for Amy. :) Gabumon has an interesting design, by the way.

waves-on-jupiter-01.jpg

I’m not really one for going abstract but I told Pegaso I would give him some material for his graphic artworks so here there is Waves on Jupiter. I happen to quite like the result.

leg-sketch-01.jpg

I timed it, 5 seconds. The bone on the left foot is actually like that due to a trauma. You hid behind the proverbial finger of the so-called constructive criticism, so I cannot be happier to shoot straight with my constructive gtfo. :)

Electivire, fucking your Pokémon since 2006

30+ IN CONTEMPORARY ART HISTORY FUCK YEAH. Especially because much of this success was determined by me making a large painting inspired from the work of Francis Bacon. The teacher was so impressed he even gave me a free book. So apparently my childish and anatomically impossible drawings are worth a 30+ and a free book. In your ass. :>

Even though I shouldn’t be taking such people too seriously, maybe I should really try and write down my views on art, especially as to why I deliberately choose to draw roughly and mostly ignoring anatomy. It’s not like I’m not able to make beautiful realistic drawings, you know. I just found a bunch of old stuff including a self-portrait I drew at fifteen and man, it does look nice. I’ll be scanning all that old stuff from 2004-2005 - those drawings that got lost with the HD failure and some which went lost ages before that (including the Sneasel pic who graced the very first layout of Angeltower Page). I’m also rescanning my old Pokémon comic whose pages seem to be currently located in the dark side of the interwebs - I even found some unpublished pages, so you may be in for a surprise.

And talking about comics, I’d really like to make another Pokémon comic. I’ve already been planning it out. It will be a comic divided in three or four short episodes each one focusing on a different aspect of the relationship between Pokémon and people.
The first one will take place before Pokémon and people became two different species and it will be about a little girl and his grampa. The old man discovers he can keep his niece’s life energy in a ball he created out of an Apricorn, so they play together with this toy - except that, with the passing of time, the old man becomes more and more scared of his child outgrowing their game, and ends up becoming eerily obsessive…
The second one will take place in the present and will be about a Trainer and a Fearow who fall in love for each other, thus compromising the whole training system and posing some interesting question on their relationship.
The third one will be about a “real world” girl playing Pokémon and getting emotionally attached to the creatures.
I do seem to have a predilection for real weird stuff. In case you were asking. :P

Also, I just got approved for the making of the Fearow fanlisting! Yeah Fearow. It took me a whole ten years to understand its greatness |D Sneasel is sticking to the position of favorite Pokémon ever, then Mewtwo, Porygon-Z and Fearow in no particular order. The fanlisting’s name will be Soaring Dread and it will feature an illustration of mine in the layout. I PROMISE IT’S GOING TO LOOK NICE

As for the new Hall of Changes layout I changed idea three times, then got what looks like my best layout ever. It looks so awesome that I cannot believe it was me to create it. It will feature Samus and the Orion Nebula! What can possibly go wrong? :D

Anyway, this post was really about…ME SINGING KAZE TO ISSHO NI. DUN DUN DUUUN. I would have posted Niji ga Umareta Hi too but the laptop mic wouldn’t record the high-pitched scream at the end which was supposed to show my leet singing skillz. Hahaha. As you will have understood by now, the recording is quite low-quality, but I’m so awesome so it should not be a problem. SARCASM.
Here’s the recording. My voice does sound weird in places but that’s because by the “ikutsomono deai, ikutsumono wakare” I was crying like a baby. Kaze to Issho Ni always gets to me. :<

Let me end this entry with my latest weird dream. Involving me saving a beautiful woman with long fair hair by a number of weird situations throughout some really colorful and detailed worlds. And having hot sex with her afterwards. Ten times. And because this dream was half-lucid, I could make her boobs larger whenever I wanted to. My dreams are, indeed, better than yours. Live with it. XD

Pokémon top 5 anime and movie openings/endings

( June 19, 2009 - 3:31 pm, filed under random, tagged as , )

STOLEN FROM IRENE
except she only tackled the anime ops, but I’m an even bigger Pokémon dork than her so HAHAH NO IRENE JUST KIDDING, JUST KIDDING

Anime openings

5. Spurt! - It somehow remembers me of the early nineties’ anime openings, so energetic
4. Ready Go! - It makes me smile :) Also nice vocals
3. Together - Maybe a bit cheesy, but I still like the overall sound. Also the lyrics are so fun :D
2. Battle Frontier - I LOVE THIS SO MUCH and even more so in the Eiga Version (sorry, no Youtube link). I used to listen to it a lot a few years ago. I even remember a few rather embarrassing mishearing games with my sister 8′D
1. Mezase Pokémon Master ‘98 - I’m linking to the Myuutsuu no Gyakushuu version rather than the original anime opening because it’s the one I grew with. I love this to pieces, I know all the lyrics by heart, also Rica Matsumoto is friggin’ awesome.

Anime endings

5. Polka O Dolka - HILARIOUS. Also I love how they’re actually saying PORUKA O DORUKA
4. Gizamimi Pichu Song - I LIKE THE GIZAMIMI PICHU SONG. SO WHAT?
3. Nyaasu no Uta - SO CUTE.
2. Type: Wild! - Rica Matsumoto again! This song reminds me of Oli, wonder what she’s up to now. Also it begins with Kaze to Issho ni :D
1. Soko ni Sora ga Arukara - Try to deny it, this is beautiful.

Movie endings

I only like three of them.
3. Niji ga Umareta Hi - The singer is just so incredible. Also, once I managed to sing it! You may not know it, but I’m actually decent at singing. Maybe I should record myself singing this?
2. Chiisaki Mono - The vocals are amazing.
1. Kaze to Issho ni - In my opinion, the best Pokémon song ever. Wonderful lyrics, wonderful music. Also yes, the little girl singing is Ai. You have no idea how much I love this.

I’m a rock

( June 17, 2009 - 9:23 pm, filed under artworks, tagged as , , , )

THESE ARE THE DRAWINGS I MADE WITH IRENE THE OTHER DAY

pokemon-event-130609-01.jpg

Our absolute favorites! My Sneasel is ugly but Irene’s Toxicroak kicks ass :O

pokemon-event-130609-02.jpg

Our favorite legendaries. Irene was drawing a Giratina in the beginning and I went all I THOUGHT IT WAS DARKRAI and since she kept getting Giratina wrong anyway she changed to Darkrai, haha
Mewtwo does not approve of Darkrai’s (invisible) boobs.

pokemon-event-130609-03.jpg

Our favorite bird Pokémon, they actually look like they’re fighting! While we were drawing this some kids came over and said IT’S A MULCHCRAW, IT’S A FEEFAHON and we were all what

pokemon-event-130609-04.jpg

My Houndoom is all high and mighty

pokemon-event-130609-05.jpg

I cannot remember why we even drew them in the first place but seriously, that’s a huge Absol. Or a tiny Arceus, your call.
ABOUT THE ROCK IN THE MIDDLE:
Irene: Why didn’t you draw Absol’s other leg? Fill in the empty space with, I don’t know, a rock?
dubiousdisc: Here’s a rock. *draws a rock*
Irene: This rock is a Geodude! *draws eyes and mouth*
dubiousdisc: But he’s disguising himself as a rock, so he’ll have a sign saying, “I’m a rock”. *draws the sign*

WE HAD SOME FUN

but I also have other stuff!

oblivion-self.jpg

If I were a character in a fantasy world (Oblivion?), I’d be like this. With bow and arrows and daggers, no, poisoned daggers! I’d be a rogue-type character basing on speed and agility rather than brute force, so I’d be equipped with light armor; but because I’d anyway be wanting to kick people right in the face, I’d be covered in spikes to hurt them more. However, I’d be completely devoid of any magic power because seriously, try to imagine ME shooting fireballs and thunders from my hands, I’d look very silly in the least. I KNOW I GET WAY TOO INVESTED IN THIS STUFF LEAVE ME ALONE

charizard-01.jpg

I spent the other evening with a special friend of mine. Two friends of him came over; I ended up talking about Pokémon and stuff with one of them and he asked me to draw some. My friend even brought me his old sticker album to give me some references :)
I tend to prefer Charmeleon over Charizard because of the latter having a lame design but hey, I like how this turned out. also I was asked for it so um

psyduck-01.jpgflareon-03.jpgmoltres-01.jpg

These were quite random but they still look good somehow

aerodactyl-01.jpg

I think my ability to draw with a single line depends entirely on how confident I feel.

mecha-bird-01.jpg

This was made the following day, when me and my friends were having a quite interesting discussion. I won’t openly talk about who this friend is as I haven’t yet shown him my sites and don’t know how he feels about that, but well. He’ll see as soon as I decide to not be an idiot for once.
This wingless mecha-bird is way smaller than it looks - about a third of an A5 paper, smaller than my hand.

there was something else but I forgot
